Boepple is primarily a sculptor working in the vernacular of architecture and structure; each year, however, he spends a few months in London working with his collaborator and printmaker to realize his compelling, elegant monoprints. These are color studies of the highest order: Boepple’s sensitivity to the subtle pitch and gradation of tone is exceptional. When seen in a series, the prints are a meditation on hue and how slight variances can change up how we see shape and positive/negative space. Each print is unique; each reflects Boepple’s unwavering interest in the science and mysteries of color.
